Installation view in REEF, LA, 2023

"Afterimage in my eyelids" is an installation piece composed of bookbinding gauze, canvas fabric, and a video projection. The video features a hand erasing the content of a dictionary with a pen and is projected onto the canvas fabric, which is attached to a long bookbinding gauze suspended from above. The looped video's opacity changes based on the distance between the audience and the work; as the audience approaches, the video becomes fainter, gradually reappearing as they move further away.

The installation's title suggests a visual phenomenon in which an image continues to appear in one's vision after the original image has disappeared. The work aims to explore the relationship between memory, language, perception, and the act of forgetting.
