Sohyong Lee is a mixed-media artist based in Los Angeles and Seoul. She obtained BFA and MFA in sculpture from South Korea and an MFA in Art-Integrated media at California Institute of the Arts, US. Her practice ranges from sculpture, video, sound, and installation to performance.
She aims to recognize inevitably vanished ones over life’s perceived realms to raise questions on fixed notions and value systems. Her work starts from the gesture to recognize uncertainties that could be found in our daily life and are carried out in an attempt to blur the boundary of concept. Throughout her work, she questions the standardized mindset and authority, status, and their significance, which have been categorized by visible and invisible boundaries of where we live.
